forty-two

About this tool

This converter supports non-negative integers below one thousand. Values under twenty use a fixed word list; tens add a hyphen before the ones digit; hundreds prepend the hundreds word and recurse for the remainder. Outside 0–999, or for non-numeric input, the result shows Enter 0-999 instead of inventing text.

How to use

  1. Open the converter: Load this page so the Number input and live result are ready.
  2. Type a number: Enter an integer from 0 through 999 (the sample default is 42).
  3. Read the words: The result updates automatically with the English spelling.
  4. Fix invalid input: If you see Enter 0-999, clear the field and type a valid whole number in range.
